•Answer: NOTHING

• I'm not a king, but I have a crown. I'm not a queen, but I have a ring. What am
I?
Quote:
‘A little fire is quickly trodden out’
•William Shakespear
• Literal Meaning:
• This refers to the physical act of extinguishing a small fire.
• When a fire is small and contained, it can be easily put out by
stamping on it or smothering it with something like dirt or a wet
cloth.
• This highlights the importance of acting quickly when dealing
with potential dangers like fire, as small issues can escalate
quickly if left unchecked.
• Figurative Meaning:
• This proverb is often used metaphorically to represent dealing
with problems or challenges in their early stages. It suggests
that addressing issues promptly and proactively when they are
small and manageable is easier and more effective than letting
them grow and become bigger problems later.
1. We never see eye to eye. This makes me frustrated.
2. Let’s play it by ear and see how we feel about that later.
3. He gave me the cold shoulder. I really feel pissed off now.
4. I can’t talk right now. I’ve got a frog in my throat.
5. His uncle Phil is dead from the neck up.
6. I have a gut feeling that he’s lying about not taking money from the register.
7. He’s definitely getting better- he has lots more good days back to back now.
fun expressions
Almost all these humorous expressions are used by English speakers every single
day- that’s how common they are. These are all based on parts of the body.
See eye to eye It means that we agree. Can be used in the negative.
Let’s play it by ear. Let’s not plan anything. Let’s see how things go- if we are
in the mood to do something.
Give the cold shoulder to sb He/She turned away from me and ignored me. So, he/she
doesn’t like me or is mad at me.
I have a frog in my throat. I can’t speak clearly- I need to clear my throat.
She’s dead from the neck up. This means that one’s brains do not function- therefore
the person is very stupid.
I have a gut feeling that Your guts are your intestines- if you feel it there- your
feelings are usually correct.
back to back One after the other- two of anything in a row.
fun expressions

I) Prepositions:
1. He lives from his brother’s money.
Say: He lives on his brother’s money.
2. They were warned about the danger.
Say: They were warned of the danger.
3. it’s no use to cry like a baby.
Say: It’s no use crying like a baby. (it’s no good)
I) Miscellaneous examples:
1. It was him.
2. Say: it was he.
• Note: In spoken English, "it was him" is much more common and
sounds more natural to most speakers. "It was he" might sound stiff
or overly formal in everyday conversation.
1. My sister is taller than me
Say: my sister is taller than I. (formal vs informal/non-
standard)
I) Miscellaneous examples:
-English isn’t hard to be learned.

-At the end, they moved to a new city.
Say: In the end, they moved to a new city.
-The reason is because I believe it.
Say: The reason is that I believe it.
Note: the word reason denotes cause, therefore the reason is beacause is repetition.
-John hasn’t come too.
Say: John hasn’t come either. (negative sentence)
