Introduction
To the end that my guitar needs a chorus pedal for the effect of making the sound of a
single chord played on a guitar to sound fuller as if more than one instrument where playing at
once. The design is based on the Mini Me home build version found on GuitarPCB.com for Do-
It-Yourself guitar pedal projects. However, I have added features to the design.
The basic tenant of the chorus pedal effect is that the guitar sound is split into several
signals and then remixed slightly out of time from each other, thus imitating the effect of a
“chorus” – where no two musicians are going to hit the note at exactly the same time. The
modification that I have made to the pedal are two, to include an additional male output jack, and
a toggle switch. The circuitry is standard DIY circuitry for the Mini Me chorus pedal.
Motivation
My motivation for this is to not only create the chorus pedal effect for my guitar. By
having a male output in addition to the female output jack, I will have the ability to plug the
pedal directly into the amp. This will eliminate the need for a second chord, which are expensive,
get tangled and easy to break the ends, the less used the better. When plugged directly into the
amp the toggle switch will be there so it is easy to switch on and off. The original “stomp”
switch will still be part of the design so that the pedal can be used on the floor.
This will allow the pedal to be used both in the traditional sense as a guitar foot pedal,
and as a amp mounted effect.
2
Procedure
First step will be to construct the circuit board needed to create the effect. The circuitry is
a simple variation to the Mini Me, shown in detail on the next page. Next step will be using the
3D printer to create the Box. After that it will be drilled out to mount the two potentiometers
needed, the female input jack, the female output jack, the male output jack, the on/off stomp
switch and the on/off stomp switch. The jacks and switch will be mounted on the pedal box
upper half, and the circuit board will be mounted to the bottom half of the guitar pedal box. The
wiring will then be soldered making the connection between the components and the circuit
board, and the pedal box will then be screwed together.
