In nutshell I am 49 years South African gentleman and hold MSc.Eng (Water and Environmental
Management) from University of Durban Westville. I also have BSc. Ed. in Biology and Chemistry
obtained from National University of Lesotho. I further have post graduate / professional certificates
in Waste Management (NQ7 Level) from University of Pretoria, Air Quality Management (NQ7
Level) from University of Johannesburg, Environmental Law for Environmental Managers,
Environmental Management in Mining and Prospecting (NQ7 Level) Wits University.
I am currently working as Environmental Specialist for SPX DB Thermal, an engineering company
sub-contracted for the building of filters at Eskom Kusile Power Station, Mpumalanga. My
responsibilities are as follows:
• Ensuring that activities on Site comply with legislation;
• Monitoring and verifying that the environmental specifications are adhered to at all times and
taking action if the specifications are not followed;
• Monitoring and verifying that environmental impacts are kept to a minimum and taking
action to address any environmental degradation;
• Compiling the requisite Method Statements for review by ECO and Engineer;
• Inspecting the Site and surrounding areas regularly with regard to compliance with the
environmental specifications;
Before SPX DB Thermal I worked for Sappi and my responsibilities were as follows:
• Day to day Environmental management of the hazardous waste (H:H) landfill site, Lime
dams (G:L:B+
), Recovery and Recycling Centers.
• Conduct internal audits for these sites and other environmental related projects within the
Mill, e.g. Black Liquor Dams
• Involved in all External Environmental Projects within the Mill.
• Ensure the Implementation of SHEQ within the Mill.
• Involved in risk assessments of the Environmental contractors
• Ensure the health and safety of the Environmental contractors.
Before Sappi I worked for Gauteng Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Environment as
Acting Deputy Director in Hazardous Waste Management. My basic work was quality check on the
EIA authorizations issued by Officers within my sub-Directorate. I was acting as the Sub-Directorate
Technical Manager supervising all the staff within Hazardous Waste Management Sub- Directorate.
I have more than 10 years experience in water and environmental management. My career in
environmental management started when I was Pollution Control Officer for one water utility
company in Lesotho, Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA). From there I joined Environmental
consulting company based in Randburg by the name of Environmental Impacts Management
Services (EIMS) as Environmental Associate. From there I became a National Project Coordinator

I am currently working as Environmental Specialist for SPX DB Thermal, an engineering company sub-contracted for the building of filters at Eskom Kusile Power Station, Mpumalanga.
