Miami Beach's Le Petit Papillon Montessori School has a strong commitment to creating a community of engaged learners who grow academically and spiritually. To help fulfill that mission, Le Petit Papillon Montessori School organizes excursions for its students. One such educational outing took the young people to Wynwood Walls, part of the Wynwood district of Miami. Wynwood Walls, which focuses on graffiti and street art, was the brainchild of the late Tony Goldman, a visionary committed to community revitalization.

a strong commitment to creating a community of
engaged learners who grow academically and
spiritually. To help fulfill that mission, Le Petit
Papillon Montessori School organizes excursions for its
students. One such educational outing took the young
people to Wynwood Walls, part of the Wynwood
district of Miami. Wynwood Walls, which focuses on
graffiti and street art, was the brainchild of the late
Tony Goldman, a visionary committed to community
revitalization.
In 2009, Goldman came up with the idea of
transforming the Wynwood warehouse district into an
unprecedented display of large-scale art.

3.  Part of that idea included using the windowless
warehouse buildings as canvases for colorful murals
created by artists skilled in the graffiti and street art
styles. With this program, Goldman aimed to bring
attention to art forms that many people have seen, but
few may have truly appreciated.
Since its inception, Wynwood Walls has featured
creations by more than 50 artists from countries around
the globe. The park has become a popular destination
for the locals and visiting art enthusiasts who have
ventured there to witness the beauty of more than
80,000 square feet of art-covered walls.
