Mia Bella

The thing about Hauz Khas village is that it never fails to
surprise you. Whether it’s an amazing food experience
you have, or the amazing ambience of the place you’re
having it in, or the amazing music being played in there,
or, as in the case of Mia Bella, an amazing rooftop view
of the deer park along with all the three things I just
mentioned. A cute little place perched at the top of a
building at almost the farthest end of the street, Enjoying
your meal while sitting in a balcony overlooking a lake is
a fresh change of pace from the other, ever engaging and
lavish cafes and bars. At night, this feeling is accentuated
more so as the lights from the village and ones in the fort
are reflected in the lake, creating a setting of
mesmerising beauty which is sure to leave a lasting
impression on the ones dining here. Enough said about
the geography of the place, let’s now focus more on what
makes a restaurant a, well, restaurant; food. Mia Bella
has a pretty well picked out food menu with options
abound. Well to start off, one of my favourite items in
their menu is actually a betrayal of sorts, chicken dhoka.
“Drumsticks shaped bread stuffed with yoghurt and
pepper, served with mint dip”, sounds interesting right. It

tastes interesting too. Apart from this, there are a
plethora of options to try from, and as a food enthusiast
my only advice, as usual, would be to go with your
instincts while ordering.
So, I came across this restaurant on one of my night outs
at Hauz Khas. After partying a little in Raasta our
stomachs called out for something more appetizing than
beer and kalamari. We decided to switch locations and
found Mia Bella. After treading the long staircase, it was a
feast to our eyes. We quickly grabbed a seat near the
balcony and just then noticed the scenic beauty.
Now to place an order from such a diverse offering is not
an easy task, so one has to have an idea of what exactly
they have in mind. We ordered a thin crust pizza with
chicken and x topping along with my now favourite
chicken dhokha and basil pesto chicken pasta. Out of the
range of liquor in their Bar, we all chose a drink and sat
back to enjoy the ambience of the place.
After what seemed like an hour we got served. Now
about the food, one can’t comment on how it was
presented as it was perpetually dark up there and all we
focussed on was the taste.
The pizza had a nice crunch and was full of varied
flavours which was hard to determine. The pesto chicken
pasta was succulent and sort of melted in your mouth. It
was a heavy and filling meal for two, but we were three
people and we relished the fact that we also ordered
chicken dhokha, which turned out to be quite a surprise.
In all, Mia Bella served us well. It’s popular for simple
preparations of dishes and a scenic view. Mia Bella is
one of those places you can go to whether it’s a date, a
