2. DISRUPTIVE INNOVATION
According to Frates (2014), disruptive innovation is used to define how an industry is
transformed based on more accessible, convenient, and affordable products and services.
Disruptive innovation in health care includes the innovation of technology based care versus
the use of trained professionals (Frates, 2014).
Disruptive innovation in health care also includes the innovation of outpatient services versus
hospital inpatient services (Frates, 2014).
3. CAREZONE

with pertinent healthcare information that
can be shared with family members and
caregivers.
CareZone is accessible via computer,
smartphone, or tablet and keeps
information such as appointments,
medication lists, contacts, and notes.
CareZone is free and simple and allows one
to keep records up to date for all family

5. THREATS AND PARTNERSHIPS WITH EXISTING ORGANIZATIONS
Threats
People in rural areas often have trouble
accessing healthcare services (Moore,
2014).
If the patient has trouble accessing
healthcare, they may wrongfully use an
innovative service in lieu of a physician.
Accessing an innovative solution such as
CareZone may be directly related to that of
the demographics of a specific area. If the
area is primarily those of the lower class,
they may not have the accessibility to the
app and it’s resources.
Partnerships
E-Tools help increase surveillance,
management, and education (D Piette, et
al., 2012).
Could help to reduce the number of visits if
the information was readily available for the
patient (D Piette, et al., 2012).
Example: Diabetes management – if
patients have the education at their
fingertips it will not only help monitor the
blood sugar levels but could also reduce
the number of office visits/phone calls
regarding an irregular value
6. CONCLUSION
There are benefits to utilizing sites such as CareZone, such as having quick access to all
healthcare information, medication lists, and notes/education regarding a specific condition.
The simplicity of the application makes it easy to update while on the go and keeps one
updated with calendar with appointments.
The application allows one to track multiple different people, everyone in the family, including
pets.
The application may pose a threat to certain providers, should patients utilize the information in
the app versus what their providers tell them.
The application can also help providers monitor a patient’s healthcare information and ensure
that accurate information is supplied due to the ease of the app.
