The medical team reviewed the structure of preoperative procedures and decided to review written procedures to determine if additional steps should be added. A meeting of the surgical team was scheduled for May 26th to discuss suggested changes to the preoperative checklist. The memo lists several items that should be reviewed to determine where each should be positioned in a preoperative surgical checklist, including signed forms, completed blood tests, noted blood type and allergies, and review by the anesthesiologist.
