1. Meghalaya has a rich
variety of hand-woven
textiles, with unique
characteristics that reflect
the state and its skilled
artisans. The state
produces three varieties
of silk – Eri (locally known
as ryndia from the castor
plants the silkworms feed
on), Muga and Mulberry.
Food & Drinks: The staple
food of Khasis is rice. They
also take fish and meat.
Social Structure: The
Khasis, the Jaintias and the
Garos have a matrilineal
society.
Religion: The Khasis are
now mostly Christians. But
before that, they believed in
a Supreme Being, The
Creator – U Blei Nongthaw
and under Him, there were
several deities of water and
of mountains and also of
other natural objects.

2. The Elephant Falls
gets its name from
the stone at its foot
that looks like an
elephant.
It is one of the best
tourist places in
Meghalaya and
comprises three
waterfalls.
