Unlike many kids on Chicago's South Side, Bennett grew up in a strong home with two strong parents. "Both of
my parents graduated from high school, both attended college, both have government jobs now," he says.
"They've always been very adamant about me finishing high school and finishing college." But he also had a
feeling from an young age that he has wanted to preform on a stage in front of crowds. "I've known I wanted to
rap since I was in grade school. When I first got my first CD, I just knew that was my career path and I was
pretty adamant about it," he says. “before I knew I wanted to be a rapper, I wanted to be an entertainer. I was
into Michael Jackson as a child.“ the one album particular "When I heard College Dropout it was life altering I
was like, 'This is what I'm supposed to be.'"

Originally chance the rapper had released the mix-tape
on a website which the mix tape was for free on which is
called Datpiff.com where over 800,000 people download
it The mix-tape features guest appearances from Twista,
Vic Mensa, BJ the Chicago Kid, Action Bronson, Childish
Gambino and Ab-Soul.
Acid Rap was well liked by critics and consumers.
The album cover shows Chance gazing at the viewer as if
he was already on a trip of LSD with a “trippy” night sky
and a forest around him showing he is deep in the woods
metaphorically speaking on a deep trip as well so t cover
could be seen as one big metaphor.
