One of the reactors at the Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Power Plant in Baxley, GA exploded around 8:00 am on February 11, 2016, causing a nuclear disaster. 45 buses from the Appling County bus barn are evacuating citizens of Baxley at least 50 miles from the plant. The National Guard is assisting with cleanup and evacuation efforts while ambulances treat any people radiated. Helicopters are pouring chemical absorbents on the damaged reactor core. Highway 341 will be used to evacuate citizens away from the plant.
