Zoey Viera is an archeologist who travels through time to study Mayan history from 2600 BC to 1244 AD. Over the course of 10 days, she witnesses the rise and fall of great Mayan cities like Tikal, visits cultural and religious centers like Teotihuacan, and learns about Mayan calendars, architecture, agriculture, and the mysterious collapses of many Mayan cities. While gaining insights into Mayan achievements in mathematics, science, and culture, she is left with more questions than answers about the reasons for the civilization's ultimate decline.

Human sacrifice was an important ritual in many ancient cultures. In the Maya civilization, human sacrifice was believed to appease the gods and ensure important events like successful harvests or military victories. Priests would perform ritual sacrifice of captives or volunteers by removing their hearts with an obsidian blade on top of temples or pyramids as offerings to the gods.

While the ancient Mayan and Greek civilizations both centered their societies around polytheistic religious beliefs and constructed grand architecture dedicated to their gods, they differed in important ways. The Mayans practiced human sacrifice and had a more abstract artistic style, while Greeks only sacrificed animals and depicted the human body more literally. - 2. Mix together the 3 cups of advanced science and 1 cup of accurate
- 3. calendars. Gradually stir in your favorite Syllabary sign.
- 4. Beat the 3 cups of extreme devotion to the gods and 2 whole sacrificed
- 5. human hearts until blended into a different bowl.
- 6. In another bowl, cream the 3 tsp. melted acropolises, 6,500 blocks of
- 7. unsalted structure, and 1 “T” shaped ball court.
- 8. In an even bigger bowl, stir each bowl’s ingredients together.
- 9. Chop up and mix in the 4 ears of Maize.
- 10. While stirring, put a dash of jade to complete the mixture.
- 11. Let rise until 1224 A.D.
- 12. Enjoy, your glorified, successful civilization!
