CROUSE HOSPITAL PRESENTS BREAST HEALTH AND IMAGING CENTER
OPEN HOUSE, FRIDAY MAY 6
Syracuse – In 2015, 231,840 newcases of breastcancer will be diagnosedinwomen,accordingtothe
AmericanCancerSociety.Estimatesaddthat40,290 of these caseswill resultindeath.Breastcanceris
the secondleadingcause of cancerdeathin women,secondtolungcancer.The AmericanCancer
Societysaysthat there are more than 2.8 millionbreastcancersurvivorsinthe U.S.,andCrouse Hospital
islookingtoadd to that number.
Withthe snowfinallymelted,Crouse Hospital inviteswomen tospringintogoodhealthatan open
house eventMay6, 5-7 p.m.at the Crouse BreastHealthand ImagingCenter,739 IrvingAve.in
Syracuse.
Guestswill be able totour the center,includingup-closeviewingof 3D mammographytechnologyand
DEXA bone-densityscanners.Plus,Crouse radiologistsJenniferBarna,MD,StephenMontogomery,MD
and DavidWang, MD will be onhand to discussthe importance of breastcancerand osteoporosis
screenings,andanswerquestions.
“Proactivelycaringforwomen’shealthandeliminatingfearsabouttestingare the reasonsbehind this
event,”saysStephenMontgomery,MD,Medical Directorof the Crouse BreastHealthCenter.“We are
lookingforwardtoshowingwomenourcentersothattheywill feel more atease comingfor
appointments,aswellasunderscoringthe tremendousvalue of 3Dbreast imagingandbone density
testing.”
A bone densityscreeningcanbe essentialinpreventingosteoporosis,adisease thatweakensbones,
causingbonestobreak more easily.Accordingtothe National OsteoporosisFoundation,about54
millionAmericans have osteoporosisorlow bone density.Crouse isofferingscreeningstoincrease
awarenessandpreventionof thisdisease.
Participantswill alsogetthe chance tomeetwithCrouse techniciansandsee equipmentupclose with
demonstrations.
Attendees canenjoy free refreshmentsandfriends,alongwithReiki andmassage mini-treatments.The
first40 guestswill receiveareadyto plantflowergarden-container.Free parkingwillbe available inthe
Crouse Hospital garage.
