This report explores the potential of mission-connected investment (MCI) for foundations. MCI is defined as investment from a foundation's endowment that both furthers its mission and provides market rate returns. The report finds that relatively few foundations currently invest in a way that is aligned with their mission, despite the potential of MCI. Barriers include a lack of awareness of MCI opportunities and resistance from investment managers. However, opportunities for MCI exist across asset classes and mission areas. The report recommends that foundations promote MCI, clarify that it is compatible with fiduciary duties, form alliances to share practice, and support the development of intermediaries and specialized MCI funds.
This document discusses the potential for foundations to use Mission-Connected Investment (MCI), where they invest a portion of their endowment in ways that both earn market returns and further their social mission. MCI could allow foundations to have greater impact by allocating more resources to their mission. However, relatively few foundations currently use MCI due to barriers like a lack of awareness of opportunities and difficulty finding specialist advisors. The document presents an inventory of potential MCI opportunities across different asset classes and missions to demonstrate that MCI is a feasible option for many foundations and help overcome barriers related to awareness.

Stakeholders are encouraged to provide ideas on these topics to the EU Commission by July 30, 2010.

The document provides predictions for the business events industry in 2014 from several South African industry leaders. Overall, they predict:
- The industry will see a slight increase in meetings and events as their value is recognized beyond just tourism. However, attendance may decrease as companies focus on fewer, more relevant delegates.
