Greetings, this is a situation report for Tuesday January 27, 2015. The Marshfield
Emergency Operations Center is currently supporting all Marshfield Departments
responding to a major storm. A shelter has been opened at the Furnace Brook School,
500 Furnace Street in Marshfield. Transportation to and from the shelter is being
provided by Marshfield Public Safety as needed. Pets are being taken to the Marshfield
Animal Control building on Clay Pit Road.
If you live in an area that experiences severe flooding or are concerned about long term
power outages, you should consider going to the Marshfield Shelter at the Furnace Brook
School. During the last Blizzard of 2013 we found that seniors remained in their cold
homes and suffered from hypothermia. This caused additional medical problems. The
snow is forecast to continue all day into Wednesday so if you need to, seek shelter.
Driving is treacherous so heed the warning of Public safety and stay off the road. Don’t
forget there is a Massachusetts travel ban.
If you have questions about the Marshfield Shelter, please call 781-837-7122.
