3. Thung Chai
Thung Chai are little boats made out of green
bamboo. They are made of green bamboo
because it is stronger than other bamboo.
Thung Chai are used to catch fish and carry other
people to their Fishing Boats

4. FISHING FOR FOOD
All the fisherman in the village have to catch fish at
night time because the fish eat food at night.
If the fisherman don’t catch any fish then the wife
can’t sell them at the markets and get money for the
family.

5. How to make a Thung
chai
To make a Thung Chai
1: You have to have some green bamboo.
2: Shave the outer skin and chop the
bamboo into slats about 5cm thick.
3:Soak the slats in water to make them
bendy.
4:Weave the slats together to make the
Thung Chai.
5:Put sticky resin to make it water tight
(waterproof)
