1999-2000 Operations Director for MATADOR, showcase for Colombian
fashion designer Amelia Toro. I oversaw the production of her
New York Collection in her Bogotá, Colombia workshop,
coordinated the import of Italian, Spanish and French fabrics,
supervised the export procedure, imported the collection into
New York and opened the flagship Matador shop in Soho, New
York.
1998 Researched popular children’s stories in the public domain
and rewrote them for a bilingual (Spanish and English) audio-visual
rendition.
1997 Member of Editorial Board of Accento, a now-defunct Colombian
magazine. The magazine, based on the North American The
Advocate, aimed at creating greater tolerance for alternative lifestyles.
I also conducted a research project on AIDS for the magazine.
1997 Advisory Member of Group for the Study of Women’s Issues
for female Colombian Presidential Candidate Naomi Sanin.
1995-1997 Investigated, researched, wrote, directed and supervised the
production and publishing of ENGLISH MY WAY, a complete
English course for Spanish speakers. The project consists of 5
books, 10 audio casettes, 2 videos containing an 18-actor soap
opera I wrote and directed, a CD and a dictionary.

VOLUNTEER WORK
As a child I spent many afternoons visiting the elderly.
I worked as an assistant nurse at the Red Cross Children’s Hospital
during my university holidays.
I was a part-time companion at a Jewish Old Age Home while studying
in New York between 1984 - 1987.
In 1999 I participated in a research project about the rehabilitation of
street children in Bogotá, Colombia.
Since 2003, I have been very active as a volunteer community
development worker in Langa and Khayelitsha, registering two
6. community based organisations as NPOs, overseeing the registration
of a crèche in a Church Hall, taking photographs and creating
marketing brochures, coordinating grants-applications from
government departments and participating as a project manager and
advisor in a food garden and support group for those affected and
infected by HIV.
I also did volunteer work for Mamela, an NGO that teaches music to
disadvantaged children in Manenberg, taking photographs and
designing a funding brochure.
I serve on the Boards of the Phaphamani Sizwe Project of the Tiyo
Soga Congregaion in Langa, and on that of the Khayelitsha Greening
and Kwakhanya Home Based Care Project in Site C, Khayelitsha.

Scripted and directed the SAWID organizational video 2003-2006, as well as
various videos and community radio productions covering SAWID Annual
Dialogues and a Peace Dialogue in Alexandra Township in 2008 after the
attacks against other African nationals.
My passion is improving the transfer and accessability of information, including
filmmaking and the creation of materials that facilitate change and
transformation. I love reading books, magazines and specialized journals,
watching film and theatre from different countries, listening to music, writing,
painting, creating mosaics and cooking. I also enjoy swimming, walking in the
mountains, and spending time with people, plants and animals.
