Marie-Claire Shayes is an artist based in Charford, Bromsgrove who explores memories and how they become blurred over time in her work. 2. Artist Statement
The fundamental theme of my practice is the concept of memories.
I’ve always been drawn towards the exploration of memories, the nature
of uncertainty and why they become blurred and distorted over time.
I’m absorbed in why and how we often remember two different
memories as one single memory.
I have been exploring this throughout my artistic practice using different
media to symbolise fragments of the past, to create work documenting
and exploring the recollection of those particular memories and
incidents.
