An old man and his dog come upon a gate where they are told by a gatekeeper that dogs cannot enter heaven. The man refuses to enter without his dog. They continue on and find a run-down area where an old man lets them rest. When asked if the dog can enter, the man confirms that this place is heaven and dogs are allowed, unlike what the gatekeeper had said earlier, who was actually the devil trying to separate people from their lifelong companions.

2. An old man and his dog were walking down a dirt road with fences on both sides. They came to a gate in the fence and looked in.

3. It was nice - grassy, had wooded area's just what a hunting dog and his master would like, but, it had a sign saying no trespassing, but they walked in anyway.

4. They came to a beautiful gate with a person in white robes standing there. "Welcome to Heaven" he said The old man was happy and started in with his dog following him.

5. The gatekeeper stopped him. "Dogs are not allowed" he said. I'm sorry but he can't come in with you.

6. "What kind of heaven won't allow dogs? If he can't come in, then I will stay out here with him. He's been my faithful companion all his life. I can't desert him now."

7. "Suit yourself", he said, "But I've got to warn you, The devil's on this road, and he will try to sweet talk you into his area."

8. "He'll promise you everything, but, the dog can't go there either. If you won't leave the dog you will spend eternity on this road" So the old man and the dog went on.

9. They came to a run down fence with a gap in it. No Gate, just a hole. Another old man was inside. "Escuse me Sir, he said, my old dog and I are getting tired" "Mind if we come in and sit in the shade for a while".

10. "Of course he said. There's some cold water under that tree over there. Make yourselves comfortable". "You're sure my dog can come in, as the man down the road said dogs were'nt allowed anywhere".

11. "Would you come in if you had to leave your dog", he was asked. "No Sir, thats why I didn't go to heaven as he said the dog could'nt come in".

12. "We will be spending eternity on this road, and a glass of cold water and some shade would be fine, But I won't come in if my buddy here can't come in with me, and that's final".

13. The man smiled a big smile and said, "Welcome to Heaven" "You mean this is heaven and dogs are allowed. How come that fellow down the road said they weren't".

14. "That was the Devil" was his reply., "and he gets all the people who are willing to give up their lifelong companion for a comfortable place to stay". "They soon find out their mistake but, then it's too late".

15. "The dogs come here. The fickle people stay there. God wouldn't allow dogs to be banned from heaven". "After all, HE created them to be man's companion in life. Why would he seperate them in death".
