4. 2005年春天，我們在丹麥推出了自己製造的可生物分解系列產品：美生貝樂
（Maison Belle）。它的活性清潔成分和香氣完全來自於天然植物精油，產
品也全由可回收的塑料瓶罐包裝，此外，全系列產品都符合英國健康、安全
與環境管理體系標準中所嚴格規範的無毒家居清潔劑標準。另外，更重要的
是，美生貝樂的產品在清潔效果上有著令您難以置信的能力。
有了環保清潔產品的成功經驗之後，我們緊接著生產自有品牌的系列皂液，
顛覆了以往皂液往往是由鹼性化學物質製造的現況，隨後又推出了具有芳
香療法功能的洗護乳霜系列，當然它們也都完全拒絕使用防腐劑或其它有
害地球和使用者身心的保存劑成分。還有，我們所有的系列產品，都是委
請實行嚴格控管成分質量和生產工藝的法國或丹麥的製造商所生產的。故

伊莎貝勒史密斯藥妝（Isabella Smith Apothecary）是一間原籍丹麥
的公司，我們的核心價值觀是致力於創造和營銷能夠經由生物分解的
家居清潔用品，而且這些用品不僅僅是對地球環境無污染、無負擔，
對使用它們的人類，也同時無污染、無負擔。
這個美好故事的開端，始於當時經營網絡銷售的我們–一家向來以
銷售獨特、美麗並兼具實用性的家居生活和園藝用品而著稱的丹麥
公司-正在急切地尋找一款兼具包裝精美、綠色環保且功效顯著的
清潔產品。然而盡管四處尋找卻始終無所獲。我們挫折地發現，是
時家居清潔產品的製造商們好像並不特別注重旗下產品的全面性：
如果環保，包裝就不夠美麗；如果美麗，成分就不夠環保；如果又
美麗、又環保，清潔效果就又很可惜地不夠理想！
於是，我們決定自己著手創造我們自己的系列產品。

7. 美生貝樂(Maison Belle)產品皆使用無毒且可分解的
天然成分，這些無毒成分共有溶劑、界面活性劑、特
殊功能成分以及精油等四大類。溶劑主要為純水及酒
精，作為結合其他成分的媒介。界面活性劑是有機衍
生物，採其溫和低泡的特性來保護皮膚。我們特別選
用這些成分，以黏著並清除所有表面髒汙。特殊功能
成分為有機酸，或常用於食品或化妝品的安全合成分

Science Story 科學故事
Maison Belle makes use of non-toxic, biodegradable and natural based ingredients. These harmless
ingredients can be grouped into solvents, surfactants, special purpose ingredients and essential oils.
Solvents are mainly pure water and alcohol, which are the carriers that combine all of the other ingredi-
ents in solution. Surfactants are organic derivatives, with mild to low foaming properties that care for the
skin. They are specially chosen to allow the product to bind to and remove every kind of dirt particle from
all surfaces. Special purpose ingredients are organic acids or safe synthetic molecules commonly used
in food or cosmetics. Essential oils, which are purified plant aromatic oils, are used to provide pleasant
aromas as well as the desired disinfectant and antimicrobial properties that every household product
should have, but in a natural way that leaves no toxic chemical residues.

9. And in spring 2005, we introduced to the Danish market our own range of
biodegradable cleaning products: MAISON BELLE®. The range is made from
natural ingredients whenever possible and fragranced with fresh-smelling
essential oils. Bottled in recyclable PET bottles, MAISON BELLE® products meet
the stringent UK HSE standards for non-toxic household cleaners. So you won’t
find any orange hazard symbols on our bottles! And just as importantly, MAISON
BELLE® products are incredibly effective when it comes to doing what they were
created to do – that is, cleaning.
Since we were already producing cleaning products, the logical next step was to
create our own line of liquid soaps – another product often filled with harsh, toxic
chemicals. And from there, it was only another small leap to making our very own
creams and scrubs, which are free of parabens and other harmful preservatives.
Brand Story
Isabella Smith Apothecary is a Danish company devoted to
creating and marketing biodegradable cleaning products and
toiletries that are safe both for the environment and the people
who use them.
It all began with a quest to find an effective, eco-friendly cleaning
product in attractive packaging for our Danish web shop, known for
its beautiful, unique and functional house and garden products. We
looked high and low, but we simply couldn’t find one. It was as if
those who manufactured biodegradable cleaning products had a
special affection for ugly packaging, not to mention the fact that
most of the products didn’t clean particularly well.
So we decided to make our own.
