HPCL plans to invest $2.5 billion to expand its Vizag refinery in Visakhapatnam, India. The expansion will increase the refinery's capacity from its current 7.5 million tonnes to 10 million tonnes by the end of the 11th plan in 2012. HPCL then aims to further increase capacity to 16 million tonnes by the end of the 12th plan in 2017. The investment and expansion plans were communicated to the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
