Semiotics is the study of signs and their role in constructing meaning in media texts. It focuses on analyzing the text itself and the signs and codes within the text. A sign is composed of two parts: the signifier, which is the form that the sign takes, and the signified, which is the concept or meaning represented by the signifier. Together, the signifier and signified make up a complete sign.
