Undergraduate Engineer Vacation Contract work between 2010 – 2013
Developed and implemented value adding process improvements. I achieved optimum utilisation of
assets in the mining and fixed plant operations for Pilbara mine sites.
Achievements:
• In three months I achieved $5 million total annual savings from CI implementations
• Initiated and oversaw the implementation of blending logic at Hope Downs with predicted lost
time savings of over $20 million annually
• Established a culture of open dialogue and trust with the controls teams in order to generate
continuous improvement (CI) strategies around fixed plant operations
• Evaluated controllers' CI proposals via research, data collection and analysis
• Identified ‘low hanging fruit’(ideas of high value relative to potential implementation costs) and
managed the process of implementation
• Engaged and informed stakeholders at site and the Operations Centre (OC) to generate ideas,
secure design approval and monitor completion
• Analysed and assessed project cost savings. Recognised and rewarded individuals involved to
motivate and foster the CI culture within the controls teams
• Established and implemented a Project Initiation Document which involved blending module
enhancements for hard to handle materials at the Hope Downs mine site
• Managed CI project launch at Hope Downs. Adapted blending logic from an existing operation to
fit with Hope Downs' specific requirements
• Researched and led the project to streamline and resolve truck queuing times at Yandicoogina
site (Interface between Modular Mining Dispatch and Citect Plant Control Systems) to improve
efficiency
• Provided excellent communications and workplace relations to ensure stakeholder buy in for
the Yandicoogina and Hope Downs projects
• Ensured all stakeholders were continuously well informed of project developments and progress
• Produced a handover document with guidelines for continuing my CI projects
