Lou Gehrig was a star first baseman for the New York Yankees who set numerous hitting records, including having the highest single-season RBI total of 184 in 1931. Some of his other accomplishments were hitting four home runs in a game in 1932, winning the Triple Crown in 1934, and playing in 2,130 consecutive games from 1925-1939 until being diagnosed with ALS. He was also the second captain ever chosen for the Yankees and had a lifetime batting average of .340, which places him 15th all-time.
