How To Hack Your Way to a Bus Seat - Ignite MumbaiAsfaq Tapia
The document provides a collection of disjointed phrases that discuss various tips and observations related to transportation. Some of the tips include aiming for streetlights instead of stars, crowd-sourcing efforts, looking for the best location, leaning on backrests for comfort on buses, maintaining visual contact to increase chances of getting a seat on a train, and not giving others too much when holding onto items. The document touches on multiple cities, buses, trains, efforts, and locations but lacks a clear overall topic or cohesive message beyond disjointed advice.
Deciding Together - Internet User Experience 2015Dan Klyn
This document contains a collection of quotes and thoughts on various topics including design, truth, maps, understanding, and durability. It shares quotes from individuals such as Richard Saul Wurman, Charles Eames, and Edward Albee. The document emphasizes finding truth over simple solutions and highlights the complexity and contradiction involved in reaching durable agreements.
A simple and rough draft of a project to be presented at VIEW, a week long conference on computer graphics.https://www.viewconference.it Topics include GeoPose, AR as photo-cinema and how AR is, and will continue to impact, tourism, education and entertainment

The document provides a summary of the novel "Bali Wave Ghost" by Stephen Black. It describes the book as being set in present-day Bali and following the story of Odie, a man whose wife was killed in the 2002 Bali bombings. Odie returns to Bali for a memorial service and begins a relationship with Francesca. The book also features characters like Kuroyama, a Japanese photographer who lives in Bali, and Will Sun, a surfer. It depicts both the idyllic and difficult sides of life in Bali and among the Balinese people. The summary encourages readers to support the book financially or have their name included.
Twenty artists and twenty writers from around the world will collaborate in an online virtual gallery called SPOKEN, showcasing various art forms including visual art, writing, music, and animated films. The virtual gallery will open on September 17th and will feature new components monthly, including writing projects in November, music in December, and an animated film in January. The goal of SPOKEN is to bring together famous and unknown talents in an experimental online exhibition that intersects art, social media, and technology.

Essentials of Automations: Exploring Attributes & Automation ParametersSafe Software
Building automations in FME Flow can save time, money, and help businesses scale by eliminating data silos and providing data to stakeholders in real-time. One essential component to orchestrating complex automations is the use of attributes & automation parameters (both formerly known as “keys”). In fact, it’s unlikely you’ll ever build an Automation without using these components, but what exactly are they?
Attributes & automation parameters enable the automation author to pass data values from one automation component to the next. During this webinar, our FME Flow Specialists will cover leveraging the three types of these output attributes & parameters in FME Flow: Event, Custom, and Automation. As a bonus, they’ll also be making use of the Split-Merge Block functionality.
You’ll leave this webinar with a better understanding of how to maximize the potential of automations by making use of attributes & automation parameters, with the ultimate goal of setting your enterprise integration workflows up on autopilot.

Direct losses from downtime in 1 minute = $5-$10 thousand dollars. Reputation is priceless.
As part of the talk, we will consider the architectural strategies necessary for the development of highly loaded fintech solutions. We will focus on using queues and streaming to efficiently work and manage large amounts of data in real-time and to minimize latency.
We will focus special attention on the architectural patterns used in the design of the fintech system, microservices and event-driven architecture, which ensure scalability, fault tolerance, and consistency of the entire system.

The typical problem in product engineering is not bad strategy, so much as “no strategy”. This leads to confusion, lack of motivation, and incoherent action. The next time you look for a strategy and find an empty space, instead of waiting for it to be filled, I will show you how to fill it in yourself. If you’re wrong, it forces a correction. If you’re right, it helps create focus. I’ll share how I’ve approached this in the past, both what works and lessons for what didn’t work so well.
How information systems are built or acquired puts information, which is what they should be about, in a secondary place. Our language adapted accordingly, and we no longer talk about information systems but applications. Applications evolved in a way to break data into diverse fragments, tightly coupled with applications and expensive to integrate. The result is technical debt, which is re-paid by taking even bigger "loans", resulting in an ever-increasing technical debt. Software engineering and procurement practices work in sync with market forces to maintain this trend. This talk demonstrates how natural this situation is. The question is: can something be done to reverse the trend?

Introduction of Cybersecurity with OSS at Code Europe 2024Hiroshi SHIBATA
I develop the Ruby programming language, RubyGems, and Bundler, which are package managers for Ruby. Today, I will introduce how to enhance the security of your application using open-source software (OSS) examples from Ruby and RubyGems.
The first topic is CVE (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures). I have published CVEs many times. But what exactly is a CVE? I'll provide a basic understanding of CVEs and explain how to detect and handle vulnerabilities in OSS.
Next, let's discuss package managers. Package managers play a critical role in the OSS ecosystem. I'll explain how to manage library dependencies in your application.
I'll share insights into how the Ruby and RubyGems core team works to keep our ecosystem safe. By the end of this talk, you'll have a better understanding of how to safeguard your code.
Introduction of Cybersecurity with OSS at Code Europe 2024
Location, location, location...
1. AR/VR:
"Where" is a Star!
A brief presentation by Stephen Black for a panel discussion
at the 2018 Singapore Young Writers Festival, with Lionel
Chiok, Karl Gan and S. Mickey Lin
2. Outstanding characters and plots are needed
for great AR/VR experiences.
BUT…
now, more than ever,
LOCATION
also deserves a starring role.
4. Now, in most AR storytelling,
the possibilities of location
are under-utilized.
Current apps are brief experiences or
demonstrations and do not use film or storytelling
techniques.
File size is a factor.
5. 19 Crimes has produced a great example of AR
storytelling.
Location: the bottle of wine itself and the country
of Australia.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hX6botAysrQ
6. To enter VR
is to enter a different location.
360 spherical filmmaking, mistakenly called VR, is
also about location.
In both, the viewer looks around a space.
The location must be
believable and interesting; have a soul.
7. examples:
HERE IN THE TROPICS, the evening light
goes away so abruptly, you would
notice it as you would a person who
leaves your presence suddenly and
without a word.
From Singapore’s first true novel, If We Dream
Too Long by Goh Poh Seng.
8. examples
Mr. and Mrs. Dursley, of number four,
Privet Drive, were proud to say that they
were perfectly normal, thank you very
much.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, by
J.K. Rowling
9. examples
Spirited Away, by Hayao Miyazaki, is one of the
world’s most successful films.
It features a wordless, two minute scene in
which the main characters, on a train, simply
watch the world they are traveling through.
11. Conclusion
The heart and soul of a location cannot be
seen nor heard.
Paradoxically, writers and filmmakers must
use words, cameras and pixels to create the
heart and soul of a location.
