Workshop
Details
Workshops are interactive and
divided between sharing the
previous week’s assignments; a guided
peer review; and an introduction to the
next topic,writing task,and priming
questions.As time allows,we will practice
writing exercises in class,something that
is less likely in larger classes.
Participants can expect to complete four
pieces by the end of the class. Some elect
to sign up for an extension workshop at
their convenience.
Host a Group
Workshop at
Your Place
Gather three to five friends together,*
and I will meet with you at your
place—your place of worship or your
home,for example—to facilitate a life
writing course.
I specialize in teaching personal legacy
documents—collections of original
writings that reflect a person’s thoughts,
feelings,and experiences.
Examples include personal history
writing,slice-of-life pieces,spiritual
autobiographies and ethical wills.I
can customize workshops to meet your
group’s needs.
This type of writing makes a great gift for
family, friends,and future generations.It
can also be healing and regenerative for
the writer.
* I keep a waiting list of potential
participants who do not have a group
of their own.Contact me for more info:
denisejacobs@me.com.
My workshops are a chance to:
• sharpen your memories,
• begin your autobiography,
• learn more about the meaning of your
life,and
• share your story with others.
4 persons: $90 per
person for a 2-hour
class that meets once
a week for 4 weeks.
Workshop Pricing
6 persons: $75 per
person for a 2-hour
class that meets once
a week for 4 weeks.
I am also happy to consider
different configurations.
As a bonus,I take a copy of every
participant’s writing home with me
weekly and provide personal feed-
back via email.Many clients believe
that my individualized feedback
is the most beneficial part of the
workshop.

Autobiography Groups (Birren)

“Creating story,we create and
re-create ourselves,finding
our sacred place in the world
of human dreams and
achievements on the green
earth we inhabit with our
fellow human beings.”
