Teacher Liew needs a kidney transplant as he currently receives dialysis treatment. He is working with Bumrungrad hospital in Thailand to find an organ donor, as in Thailand donors must be family members but Liew hopes to bring the donor to America where non-relatives can donate. Liew has a blood type of B, so he can receive a kidney from blood types B or O. Living with one kidney is possible as the remaining kidney will enlarge to handle more workload.

• Don’t eat too much salt.

• Don’t use too much painkillers.
