David van der Walt worked as the Communications Manager at Open Window Institute from September 2013 to August 2015. To Whom It May Concern:
David van der Walt filled the position of Communications Manager in the
Marketing Department at Open Window Institute from September 2013 to
August 2015. His responsibilities in this role included all internal
communications to staff, students, parents of students and the alumni body as
well as the external communications to prospective students and the creative
industry. Deliverables included the official company website (create and
maintain) and digital brochures, newsletters, press offices, blogs, short text
messaging, invitations as well as copy for all the printed collateral. To deliver
the above David had to source, write and edit content and ensure that the
tone and message were appropriate. As the first person to fulfill the
communication role at OWI, he had to establish and enforce a communication
strategy and policy.
David reported to myself, the Chief Marketing Officer, but also executed tasks
for example business plans and presentations for the CEO of the company.
During the period that he was employed at OWI he delivered meticulously and
timeously and supported the brand of Open Window with his spot-on writing.
He is creative, has a flair for writing and applies a superior use of language,
whether it is English or Afrikaans. He is also technically apt with web
development, newsletters, analytics etc.
David is very professional and was an asset for the company. Characteristics
that stood out were neatness, perfectionism and reliability. He is trustworthy,
friendly, can work independently and is willing to expand his knowledge and
skills. I will always treasure working with David and know that he will have
great success in his career.
