This is a pre-convention publication for the 1st National Char (islands) Convention-2015. As the Member Secretary and Coordinator of the National Committee, I initiated a process of bringing all actors under single umbrella to address the policy issues of char (riverine islands) dwellers in Bangladesh. Around 100 organizations including Bangladesh Parliament, Oxfam , Netherland Embassy, Australian High Commission, UNDP, DFID in Bangladesh, donors, and international and national NGOs were on board with this collective effort to organize the 1st National Char Convention in 2015. This process was being facilitated by mobilizing collective resources. The content of this publication includes: 16 Abstract of 16 studies conducted by 16 organizations as a part of the Convention, preparatory meetings , meetings minutes, pre-convention general meeting, assorted communication materials etc.

1) A watershed initiative in Yewol, Ethiopia brought communities together to replenish depleted resources through soil and water conservation efforts.
2) Terracing and other structures built through community contributions of 60 days of work each prevented erosion and increased water availability.
3) Crop yields and diversity increased along with household incomes through use of improved practices, market access, and livestock innovations like bull distributions.
4) The success attracted policymaker attention, resulting in budget increases and expansions of the approach.
Giving Serbia: Philanthropy's Response to COVID-19 in Serbia, November 30
COVID-19 has changed the way our communities work overnight. From the beginning of the crisis until November 30, we analyzed data on 1,462 philanthropic instances in Serbia. This is how citizens, companies, and nonprofits respond in solidarity to the crisis.
Asadullah et al-2017-development_policy_review
1. A study analyzed test score data from Afghan girls in grades 4-9 to examine the relationship between grade level and learning outcomes.
2. They found that higher grade levels did not correlate with meaningful improvements in numeracy or literacy skills, indicating a "flat learning profile."
3. This suggests that simply enrolling more girls in Afghan schools may not meaningfully improve cognitive development or women's socioeconomic status without also addressing low school quality.
BRAC Afghanistan Annual Report - 2017
This annual report summarizes BRAC's activities in Afghanistan in 2017. It highlights that BRAC Afghanistan operated 78 health centers that provided health services to over 1.2 million patients. Combined Illegal, Unregulated and Unreported (IUU) Vessel List.
The best available, up-to-date information on all fishing and related vessels that appear on the illegal, unregulated, and unreported (IUU) fishing vessel lists published by Regional Fisheries Management Organisations (RFMOs) and related organisations. The aim of the site is to improve the effectiveness of the original IUU lists as a tool for a wide variety of stakeholders to better understand and combat illegal fishing and broader fisheries crime.
To date, the following regional organisations maintain or share lists of vessels that have been found to carry out or support IUU fishing within their own or adjacent convention areas and/or species of competence:
Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR)
Commission for the Conservation of Southern Bluefin Tuna (CCSBT)
General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM)
Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC)

The Combined IUU Fishing Vessel List merges all these sources into one list that provides a single reference point to identify whether a vessel is currently IUU listed. Vessels that have been IUU listed in the past and subsequently delisted (for example because of a change in ownership, or because the vessel is no longer in service) are also retained on the site, so that the site contains a full historic record of IUU listed fishing vessels.
Unlike the IUU lists published on individual RFMO websites, which may update vessel details infrequently or not at all, the Combined IUU Fishing Vessel List is kept up to date with the best available information regarding changes to vessel identity, flag state, ownership, location, and operations.

Working with data is a challenge for many organizations. Nonprofits in particular may need to collect and analyze sensitive, incomplete, and/or biased historical data about people. In this talk, Dr. Cori Faklaris of UNC Charlotte provides an overview of current AI capabilities and weaknesses to consider when integrating current AI technologies into the data workflow. The talk is organized around three takeaways: (1) For better or sometimes worse, AI provides you with “infinite interns.” (2) Give people permission & guardrails to learn what works with these “interns” and what doesn’t. (3) Create a roadmap for adding in more AI to assist nonprofit work, along with strategies for bias mitigation.

The Antyodaya Saral Haryana Portal is a pioneering initiative by the Government of Haryana aimed at providing citizens with seamless access to a wide range of government services
Combined Illegal, Unregulated and Unreported (IUU) Vessel List.
The best available, up-to-date information on all fishing and related vessels that appear on the illegal, unregulated, and unreported (IUU) fishing vessel lists published by Regional Fisheries Management Organisations (RFMOs) and related organisations. The aim of the site is to improve the effectiveness of the original IUU lists as a tool for a wide variety of stakeholders to better understand and combat illegal fishing and broader fisheries crime.
To date, the following regional organisations maintain or share lists of vessels that have been found to carry out or support IUU fishing within their own or adjacent convention areas and/or species of competence:
Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR)
Commission for the Conservation of Southern Bluefin Tuna (CCSBT)
General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM)
Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC)
International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT)
Indian Ocean Tuna Commission (IOTC)
Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organisation (NAFO)
North East Atlantic Fisheries Commission (NEAFC)
North Pacific Fisheries Commission (NPFC)
South East Atlantic Fisheries Organisation (SEAFO)
South Pacific Regional Fisheries Management Organisation (SPRFMO)
Southern Indian Ocean Fisheries Agreement (SIOFA)
Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WCPFC)
The Combined IUU Fishing Vessel List merges all these sources into one list that provides a single reference point to identify whether a vessel is currently IUU listed. Vessels that have been IUU listed in the past and subsequently delisted (for example because of a change in ownership, or because the vessel is no longer in service) are also retained on the site, so that the site contains a full historic record of IUU listed fishing vessels.
Unlike the IUU lists published on individual RFMO websites, which may update vessel details infrequently or not at all, the Combined IUU Fishing Vessel List is kept up to date with the best available information regarding changes to vessel identity, flag state, ownership, location, and operations.

Working with data is a challenge for many organizations. Nonprofits in particular may need to collect and analyze sensitive, incomplete, and/or biased historical data about people. In this talk, Dr. Cori Faklaris of UNC Charlotte provides an overview of current AI capabilities and weaknesses to consider when integrating current AI technologies into the data workflow. The talk is organized around three takeaways: (1) For better or sometimes worse, AI provides you with “infinite interns.” (2) Give people permission & guardrails to learn what works with these “interns” and what doesn’t. (3) Create a roadmap for adding in more AI to assist nonprofit work, along with strategies for bias mitigation.
