Students will learn to read and play the notes E, F, and G on the first string of the guitar. The lesson plan introduces students to the guitar, explains the course objectives of identifying guitar parts and playing basic exercises, and covers state standards on playing and reading music. Students will receive handouts on guitar parts, musical symbols, and first string notes to reinforce the teacher presentation on guitar tuning, holding, and note names through class activities reading notes and interpreting rhythm. Homework assigns practicing the five steps daily to play a melody from their handouts.
