inhibition –  a force that holds back one’s actions, thoughts or feelings Release you inhibitions.
dis sent –  v.  to protest;  n.  a difference in opinion  The people showed their  dissent  by protesting.
mandatory –  required  Was it  mandatory  to write with a feather and wear a wig in colonial times?
mannerism –  unique behavior; distinctive personal trait When you impersonate someone, you try to copy their  mannerisms.
meticulous –  extremely careful or worried about details
pacifist –  one who opposes using force to settle disputes The  pacifist  refused  to fight me.
protocol –  the way of doing things according to rules and directions.
submission –  Surrender;  humbleness The angry man was beaten to submission, and finally gave up the fight.
ultimatum –  a final demand  or proposition The boss gave the  ultimatum : either show up on time, or you’re fired.

consign –  to deliver;  to officially handover  After the UPS worker consigned the package, he asked me to sign for it.
elocution –  the art of public speaking “ Eloquence” Many voters base their vote on the candidates’  elocution , rather than what he/she actually says.
incorrigible –  persistently bad;  hopeless The criminal was simply  incorrigible . Every time he was released form prison, he immediately went back to a life of crime.
maim –  to wound or mangle My leg was maimed after getting it crunched in the bear trap.
profuse –  giving freely; plentiful After the bear trap incident, my leg was bleeding  profusely .
promulgate –  to make known In order to  promulgate  their relationship, they danced in public.
strident –  Having or  making a harsh sound The strident beeping of my alarm clock always jolts me in the morning.
subversion  –  the overthrowing  or undermining of something The subversion of King Duncan required Macbeth committing murder.
virulent –  poisonous or deadly The  virulent  snake bite almost killed me!
