While some conferences support a proactive diversity policy, the common lament industry-wide is the pool of candidates just isn't large enough to draw from. It's time for women and people of color to Rawk The Web: to become more visible, promote our achievements, and make ourselves known as the rockstars we truly are.

Editor's Notes
Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself. – George Bernard Shaw
I dwell in possibility. – Emily Dickinson.
I value family
My children are my world!
I believe in family time, true love, compassion, helping others, hard work.
I am the ideal professional because of my dedication to my life; either it be my family or my work, I always make it the best it can be.
I have always enjoyed graphic designs, typography and photography. Even when I was young I can recall looking at company’s logos, or graphics and wondering why they chose that design, or how did they make that logo.
I want to encourage passion back into graphic design, by mixing the old with the new.
Ideas: Bringing “old ways” back.
The skills and strengths, that I have: Honest, trust worthy, hard working, fun, imaginative.
A childhood lesson that has helped me tremendously through my life is from 4-H. When I was younger I was in 4-H and they taught me how to meet, persuade and win people by having D.P.A. project competitions. These District Project Achievement competitions consisted of the person choosing a category of something that interested them, choosing a subject within that category then creating a presentation with props explaining their subject to the judges and persuading them that out of all the other contestants that chose the same subject, that you were the one who knew the most. By persuading the judges you would win either ribbons, medals or money.
4-H is an amazing life learning experience for children!
I am currently a Professional Pet Stylist at Animal General Hospital.
I have been a pet stylist for almost 7 years now. This has taught me patience and allowed me to work on widening my design perspective from just paper or computer to a “sculpting” design.
Competitive Advantage: Being a mother of 4 it comes naturally to me to multitask; I find this to be very helpful if a client wants more than one design made. If there are many clients at one time I also have the ability to not get frustrated and not show signs of stress to assure my clients that I will be the right person to take care of their needs. I am also open minded and always ready to receive critiques weather it be from the client or other designers. I believe that these abilities set me apart from other designers.
I want to be an entrepreneur. When I graduate I would love to have my own company for graphic design. I will create designs for clients looking to do anything from refreshing their look to creating a whole new brand for others.
I work well with everyone.
But I would much rather work alone. I feel more at ease this way and feel like I can get more done if I don’t have to worry about others in a group.
These are a few of the projects that I have created.
Sugar house; Photoshop; removed the blue tractor; removed the pipe line.
This is my friend’s nephew playing in some leaves.
Photoshop; enhanced features.
A fictitious magazine nameplate deigned in Indesign.
Poster designed around a quote that I liked made in Photoshop.
These are a few of the projects that I have created.
Choose a job you love and you’ll never work a day in your life.-Confucius. This is what I hope to accomplish with becoming a successful graphic designer.
