This document announces an orientation workshop on quality assurance, technical assistance, monitoring, and evaluation (QATAME) and school-based management (SBM) to be held from December 5-7, 2018 in Ozamiz City, Philippines. The workshop will provide training to school heads, SIP coordinators, and division staff on improving the school improvement planning process through stakeholder participation and clarifying the roles of school governing councils. A registration fee of 3,500 PHP will cover accommodations, meals, and venue costs for the 2-day workshop aimed at strengthening the school improvement process.
Low performance in schools is partly due to inconsistent implementation of the curriculum among schools and teachers. Factors influencing varied implementation include a lack of understanding of changes by implementers, innovations being introduced too rapidly without readiness, and a lack of ongoing support after introduction. Successful curriculum changes involve stakeholder consultation, well-planned steps that are studied, ongoing monitoring and evaluation, empowerment of those involved, and continuous collaboration during implementation.
The SLAC Chairperson organized a two-day interactive session for Grade 9 teachers to enhance their instructional competence in distance learning modalities. On the first day, teachers were introduced to the different distance learning modalities using self-learning modules and the most essential learning competencies. The second day focused on unpacking the learning competencies and combining them to systematize learning activities according to learner needs. Teachers worked on developing distance learning modules that integrate strategies using information and communication technology. The sessions proved effective in engaging teachers to collaborate, reflect critically, and solve shared challenges in preparing distance learning responsive to diverse student needs.
Revised Guidelines on the Establishment, Merging, Conversion and Naming/Renaming of Public Schools and Separation of Public School Annexes in Basic Education
The document discusses the National Drug Education Program (NDEP) in the Philippines. It provides background on laws related to drug abuse prevention like the Dangerous Drugs Act of 1972 and 2002. The NDEP was developed to provide a comprehensive and holistic approach through schools. It has five components: (1) curriculum and instruction, (2) co-curricular activities, (3) staff training, (4) parent/community outreach, and (5) monitoring and research. The document outlines three different philosophies of education from prospective teachers. The first values group work and giving students freedom to express themselves creatively. The teacher wants to challenge students and help them develop their strengths. The second philosophy emphasizes preventative behavior strategies, treating all students equally, and intrinsically motivating students through challenging lessons. Developing writing skills and social interaction are also goals. The third philosophy stresses the importance of creating a safe learning environment where students feel motivated and pushing them to reach their full potential. Classroom organization and teaching meaningful content that interests students are also considered key.
1) The document discusses solving triangles using the Law of Sines. It provides examples of solving triangles given different combinations of angle and side measurements, known as the AAS, ASA, SSA, and SAS cases.
2) The SSA case is sometimes called the "ambiguous case" because it can result in zero, one, or two possible triangles depending on the angle and side measurements.
3) The document also discusses finding the area of triangles using trigonometric functions, providing examples of calculating area given different side lengths and included angles.
This document appears to be an excerpt from an English language textbook. It includes an introductory section, four main sections, and three intersections. Each section and intersection covers a specific language function or area and is divided into parts. The parts include language presentations with model conversations and charts, controlled practice exercises like drills, and situational practice activities. The goal is for students to learn how to vary their language appropriately depending on factors like the social situation.
This document outlines the K to 12 curriculum guide for mathematics III. It includes 18 performance standards covering a range of math concepts from numbers and operations to measurement, geometry, patterns, and data analysis. It also provides examples of strategies and games to help students learn the concepts, including number hunt scavenger games, a "Go Fish" card game focused on addition facts, an activity practicing money skills, and a card game for learning division skills.
Extra Curricular Activites and Self-efficacyQuimm Lee
This document discusses a study that examined the relationship between student participation in extracurricular activities and perceived academic self-efficacy. The study hypothesized that students who participated in extracurricular activities would have higher academic self-efficacy scores than those who did not participate. The results found that academic self-efficacy scores were significantly higher for the group of students who participated in extracurricular activities, supporting the hypothesis.
This document is a preface to a textbook on trigonometry written by Michael Corral. It provides biographical information about the author and describes the goals, organization, and contents of the textbook. The textbook takes a more geometric approach than most, beginning with right triangle definitions and applications before covering general triangles and identities. It emphasizes preparing students to apply trigonometry in other courses over artificial "everyday life" examples. Exercises involve both analytical and numerical/computational problems. The text is released freely under an open license.
The author thanks their committee members for their support and guidance during their research. They also thank their classmates for their assistance and their children for allowing them time to work. Finally, the author expresses deepest gratitude to their supportive wife for managing their household while the author completed their work.
1) The document defines trigonometric functions using right triangles and the unit circle. It provides formulas for trig functions, inverse trig functions, and laws of sines, cosines, and tangents.
2) Tables give values of trig functions for angles on the unit circle, along with properties like domain, range, and periodicity.
3) The cheat sheet is a reference for definitions, formulas, and properties of trigonometric functions.
This document discusses using tablets instead of textbooks in schools. It notes that tablets are portable, lightweight devices that allow full control of the screen and applications using a touch screen and stylus. However, tablets also have drawbacks like their touch screens being susceptible to damage and their high cost of providing one per student. The document also points out that books are more durable than electronic devices and that technical expertise for educational software may not be widely available.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
