As the number of contributions grow, reviewer bandwidth becomes a bottleneck; and maintainers are always asking for more help. However,
ultimately maintainers must at least Ack every patch that goes in; so if you're not a maintainer, how can you contribute? Why should anyone care about your opinion?
This talk will try to lay out some advice and guidelines for non-maintainers, for how they can do code review in a way which will effectively reduce the load on maintainers when they do come to review a patch.

I was in charge of investigating test-driven development for our iOS mobile team. Since I realized it was such a big concept, after having gathered enough information and having played with it enough, I decided to introduce my fellows on the topic by presenting it in a formal talk with slides. The aim was teaching them a different way of developing, which, for us, at that moment, was completely new and controversial.

Threaded execution and continuation-passing style (CPS) allow for smooth switching between execution modes in Zag Smalltalk. Threaded execution interprets code as a sequence of addresses like bytecode but is 2.3-4.7 times faster, while CPS passes continuations explicitly like in functional languages and is 3-5 times faster than bytecode. Both approaches allow fallback to debugging. The implementation shares context and stack between modes to easily switch with proper object structures.
Exploring GitHub Actions through EGAD: An Experience Report

Measures in SQL (SIGMOD 2024, Santiago, Chile)
SQL has attained widespread adoption, but Business Intelligence tools still use their own higher level languages based upon a multidimensional paradigm. Composable calculations are what is missing from SQL, and we propose a new kind of column, called a measure, that attaches a calculation to a table. Like regular tables, tables with measures are composable and closed when used in queries.
SQL-with-measures has the power, conciseness and reusability of multidimensional languages but retains SQL semantics. Measure invocations can be expanded in place to simple, clear SQL.
To define the evaluation semantics for measures, we introduce context-sensitive expressions (a way to evaluate multidimensional expressions that is consistent with existing SQL semantics), a concept called evaluation context, and several operations for setting and modifying the evaluation context.
