LEAPERS Introduction
The premise of the story is about a private detective who goes through time and assists police forces
of that specific time period with crimes of varying severity. He travels to various eras in history such
as Victorian times, medieval times and times of hardship such as WW1 and WW2. The theme will
change with each episode with some having tones of depression and grimness while others will be
slightly more upbeat. This will depend on the ear EG. The 60’s will be slightly neurotic and
hallucinogenic while the 20’s will be full of depression.
The series will be aimed at a mid-teenage audience with the ability to appeal to people of older
generations. The show aims to make adults reminiscent, whilst teens will be drawn in by the use of
modern technology making the show relatable to both generations. The show will be reminiscent of
past shows such as Quantum Leap and current shows such as Doctor Who. The fantasy, sci-fi
elements of the show will blend with crime based shows such as CSI and Criminal Minds . Among
other shows that fit into both genres are Ashes to Ashes, Doctor Who and Sherlock. This show will
be broadcast on E4 as they do not currently have shows from such genres as sci-fi and police-
procedural drama
The show will air at approximately 9PM, which wouldn’t break the laws on pre-watershed
programming. It would air at this time because it will feature thriller elements, along with some
violence and bad language. The timing is appropriate as it allows parents to decide on whether they
can permit younger viewers to watch it, as it is not too late. The programme will be aired on a
weekly basis on Fridays. The show will run for 60 minutes till 10PM and the season will consist of 10
episodes. Each story arc will generally only be told across one episode with some being told across
two. There will also be an underlying story that will be told across the series. This story will
investigate how he came to be a time –travelling detective and why he currently does it.
The series will have the actor Benedict Cumberbatch to play the main role as a detective called
Detective Manfred. Manfred will be part of a secret society of time-travellers who do their best to
retain order across time. There will be a villain who has left the society and is looking to wreak havoc
upon the earth.
