The Lascaux Cave paintings are located near the Dordogne River in France and contain some of the earliest known artworks by humans. Dating back over 17,000 years, the Lascaux Cave features over 600 parietal paintings depicting various animals and scenes. While access to the original cave is now restricted to preserve the fragile paintings, a replica cave was constructed nearby to allow public viewing of the prehistoric artwork.
