Larry Bustamante became interested in music in middle school and realized in high school that music gave him a sense of freedom and power over his instrument. He was exposed to many genres of music growing up like Peruvian folk, salsa, hip-hop, and rock. In high school, he discovered jazz which incorporated all the music he loved. His band teacher helped him find his instrument, the baritone saxophone. Bustamante believes that through discipline, facing fears, encouragement, and criticism that music taught him important life lessons. As a teacher, he wants to give students confidence to pursue their dreams and to see that music is everywhere and everyone can be a musician. He wants students to share their music
