Laos is a landlocked country in Southeast Asia bordered by Burma, China, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand. It has a population of around 6.5 million and was a constitutional monarchy until 1975, when a communist movement took power. Laos is now a single-party socialist republic with its capital and largest city at Vientiane.
