La Selva Peruana is a dense tropical rainforest located in Peru. It covers over 60% of the country and hosts an incredibly high level of biodiversity, with over 3,000 species of trees and over 1,000 bird species found within its borders. The rainforest provides vital resources and ecosystem services for Peru but also faces serious threats from deforestation, mining, and climate change that are damaging this fragile ecosystem.
