 In 2004, an Asian Cricket Council Under 17 tournament was held in India. In
India’s opening game against Nepal - X making his u-17 debut came to bat at
relatively comfortable 110/4 but lasted only 11 balls to be caught by the
opposing captain.
 In India’s next game, X was replaced by Y, but Y did not get a chance to bat as
India raked up a score of 419/3. Y finally got a chance to bat in the final of the
tournament and score 17.
 X never got to play for the junior national team again but made his India debut
earlier than Y, whereas Y graduated to U-19 and then the national team. X and
Y once made test centuries in the same innings and put on a partnership of 280

 In 2000, West Indies lost a series to England for the first time since 1969. This
series was also the last for Curtly Ambrose. The last test of the series was in
Oval. England won by 158 runs to win the series 3-1.

 When Australia toured Pakistan in 1959-60, their captain Richie Benaud had
analysed and assessed how the Pakistanis could be combated. He was ‘aware of
the tricks employed by the home team in laying the matting’.
 According to an anecdote narrated by bowler Shuja-ud-din, (who played the
series), Richie wanted to make sure the playing surfaces were not tampered
with. He assigned 12th man Lindsay Kline to arrive at the ground two hours
before the play started - just to make sure the matting was nailed in, in his
