King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia underwent an expansion project that included the construction of an arterial tunnel. Tekfen Construction was contracted to install 800mm thick diaphragm walls that were 22-31 meters deep and over 500 meters long, along with over 14,000 meters of tie-back anchors, to excavate space for the new tunnel. The project was completed on schedule by October 2012 for the General Authority of Civil Aviation and their consultant, Dar Al Handasah.
