Kidpower does
Kidpower is important
Kidpower is unique
Kidpower is a global non-profit that provides
practical and positive personal safety education.
Using Kidpower services and resources, people
of all ages and abilities learn skills to stay safe,
act wisely, and believe in themselves.
In 1986, a man threatened to kidnap children
in a public place. Their mother, the founder
of Kidpower, acted to protect them and keep
them safe, using only her instincts and her
courage. But she knew that wouldn’t always
work and believed there had to be a better
way. Her commitment to learning safety skills
and sharing this knowledge with others led to
the establishment of Kidpower.
Years of research and consultation with
experts in psychology, child development,
self-defense, and law enforcement resulted
in the broad spectrum of age-appropriate,
effective personal safety skills Kidpower
teaches. Since 1989, more than two million
children, teens, and adults have learned skills
and strategies through Kidpower to prevent
and stop bullying, violence, and abuse.
Kidpower works with families, schools, and
communities to create cultures of caring,
respect, and safety for everyone, everywhere.
Every child deserves to feel safe, and life
is more fun when we feel safe.
Instead of using fear to teach about
danger, Kidpower makes it fun and
exciting to learn to be safe.
Children are vulnerable in a world that can
seem full of danger. Stories of bullying, abuse,
abduction, and violence are all too common
in our communities and schools. Parents and
teachers often feel powerless.
This can change. Thousands of worried adults
have found peace of mind by introducing
Kidpower skills to their families and schools.
You can, too.
Vulnerable people have power that is often
underestimated. Kidpower prepares parents,
teachers, and other caring adults to protect
children from harm while also empowering
them with skills to take charge of their
own emotional and physical safety in age-
appropriate ways.
Kidpower stands out among child abuse
prevention programs for content integrity,
developmental and situational awareness, and
focus on skills and action.

‘‘
What is Kidpower’s effect in my school?
Children empowered to stand against bullies
because they have learned the vocabulary to do
so. Empowered to stand against predatory adults
because they have gained the awareness to do
so. Empowered with the expectation that people
respect and protect themselves and each other.
Kidpower skills are just as important to learn
as algebra. In fact, even more so. My family uses
the skills every day.
