Coercion involves using fear, threats, or force to influence or control someone against their will. It is defined as harsh power to detect and sanction unlawful behavior through threats or fear. Coercive behavior includes acts like assault, threats, humiliation, intimidation or other abuse intended to harm, punish or frighten the victim. Under Indian law, coercion also includes committing or threatening to commit illegal acts or unlawfully detaining property to pressure someone into an agreement against their will.

• It is an ability that allows an authority figure
to influence another individual to deliver a
result by using fear and threats as incentive.

2. Coercive behaviour is an act or a
pattern of acts of assault, threats ,
humiliation and intimidation or
another abuse that is used to harm,
punish or frighten their victim.
Coercion is the committing to commit, any
act forbidden by the Indian penal code (45
of 1860) or the unlawful detaining or
threating to detain any property to the
prejudice of any person whatever, with the
intention of causing any person to enter into
an agreement.
