The study evaluates the speciation patterns of heavy metals in topsoil samples from major roads in the Owerri industrial layout, Nigeria, revealing significant concentrations of metals such as iron (Fe) and the lowest of cadmium (Cd). The pH of the soils ranged from 6.1 to 6.7 indicating slight acidity to neutrality, and moisture content varied between 5.177% and 13.572%. The findings highlight environmental concerns due to industrial contamination, as the distribution of metals suggests anthropogenic influences in the area.
