Justinian was a Byzantine emperor who ruled from 527 to 565 AD. He was born in 483 AD in a small village called Tauresium to a poor family, contrary to earlier accounts stating his family was rich. Justinian married Theodora in 523 AD, and together they ruled the Byzantine Empire during its greatest territorial reach before its slow decline.
