My name is
I am a graphic designer.
T
hat means I spend a lot of time thinking visually: looking at images,
manipulating images, deconstructing images, reconstructing images,
photos, shapes, blobs, negative space, positive space, colour, text – you
get the gist.
I have manipulated some words and images (and even shapes) here to give you
a taster of what I’m all about.
Thanks for stopping by – I hope you enjoy my work.

Pocket Smock
As part of an assignment to design a
magazine, I came up with a product
that ties in with the craft theme of the
magazine. Pocket Smock is a utility apron
that has several pockets printed with the
dotted outlines of tools one might like
to place in them (like a tool peg board
in a workshop). It also features a handy
easy release hook at the back, and an
adjustable neck strap with a toggle (easy
to realease as well). The packaging also
doubles as a desk tidy.

Photography
I have long had a passion for
photography. I always carry a camera
with me because I’m interested in
capturing life’s fleeting moments.
Merry Quiffmas
I was at a rockabilly gig in a fantastic old
pub in Collingwood, when I spotted this
young man with his expertly styled quiff.
He was poker-faced all night, but just as
the band were giving their last hurrah, he
smiled and I somehow fluked this shot. I
like the effect of the movement from the
slow shutter and the flash freezing his
expression. I think it depicts the energy
of the gig very well.

Totem Tea
I came up with the concept, name and
design of this iced tea beverage. Called
Totem Tea, the idea was to create a
bottle that would stand out amongst the
competition on the supermarket shelf.
Tall and slim, it looks like a retro, pseudo-
tiki styled totem pole. Merchandise
included a dream catcher and stickers
á la ‘my family’ and bobble head shelf-
talkers.

Sleeping Beauty
This collateral advertising a children’s
pantomime was a job I pitched for a
local theatre group, called Medimime
Productions. I drew inspiration from a
Polish theatre poster from the 1970s
by Hanna Bodnar, who had painted our
herione with blue hair. Since the play is
for children, I opted for a simplified line
drawing for the face, and made half of her
face in shade to represent the good versus
evil theme in the story.
Also shown here is the balloon design
and A4 line drawing to be featured as a
colouring competition in the programme.
