2. About this book
This is a drastically abbreviated version
of my digital sketchbook containing
ideas for artworks pursued from spring
2010 through the fall of 2012. The
“children” and even “grandchildren” of
some of the ideas have already been
exhibited in various locations globally.
Other images are sketches or working
versions of ideas that may, or may not,
ever be shared with the public as finished
artworks. I’m presenting these images
without titles so the works may stand on
their own visual merits.

Artist’s Statement
As a former industrial engineer my
perspective is deeply colored by
mathematics and statistical modeling. As
an artist I am traditionally trained in
painting, photography and illustration
and these skills are bought to bear on the
subjects that most engage me ay any
given moment. The subjects of my
artwork vary quite widely but are
primarily based on my research into how
science defines our world and changes
how we live. My art-making processes
most often involve various modes of
digital studio practice that is seamlessly
blended into or combined with traditional
media. In making artwork I often begin
with scans of my drawings or with found
objects -- either electronic or physical.
After that the processes evolve as
needed to take works into a variety of
forms: installations, online works,
animations, time-based works, large
format prints, and mixed media works.
Sharply focused imagery and
experimentation with technical processes
are constant factors in my work.
