Mental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying it’s good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation that’s least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state they’re comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).

11. ЛОНГИТУДИНАЛНА ТРАНСПАРЕНТНОСТ
Богатото сценарио на околината која го опкружува експо-центарот за
рециклирање, чија содржина е со мошне широк дијапазон на карактери,
почнувајќи од кејот и речниот тек на Вардар, па се до масивните и реперни
објекти од типот на Комплексот банки и Транспортниот Центар на градот
(автобуската и железничката станица), дава можност да се вметне
транспарентно-рефлектирачки затворен простор во структуралистичко-
натуралистичка околина. Како што нашето енергично однесување не тера да
ги разоткриваме нашите лични мисли и размислувања, полни со прилично
богат опус на идеи и концепти, така се поголема е концентрираноста на
нашата креација, која, анализирајќи ја детално, се повеќе го наметнува
сомнежот во нејзината оригиналност. Токму ваквата бесконечност ни ја дава
секогаш посакуваната слобода на изразување.
На посочената локација, дел од централното подрачје на Скопје, град
со претежно ладна, а сепак мека и тивка архитектура и силна панорамска
околина, би никнал репрезентативен објект, каков што е експо-центарот за
рециклирање. Земајќи го во предвид опкружувањето на објектот, како и
главната програмска тематика на проектот - рециклирање, започнавме
продлабочено студирање и истражување во кое беше вклучен добро
препознатливиот симбол за рециклирање, авторот, арх. Гери Дин Андерсон,
и неговите главни инспиративни моменти – Моебиусовата лента
(бесконечна лента со конечен облик – едно лице и еден раб, претходно
сфатена и како симбол на рециклирањето), како и будистичкиот симбол
Мандала (концентрично ширење и прекршување на кружни и елипсовидни
геометриски форми, симбол на бесконечноста), и како резултат го добивме
елегантното решение на партерното уредување на локацијата во кое би се
претопил еден помалку футуристички, органски и транс-модерно обликуван
објект, кои како проектантски размислувања и архитектонски идеи би биле
успешни пионери во создавањето на нова и комплетно различна слика за
градот.
Програмата и содржината на експо – центарот за рециклирање
издвојува три посебни целини кои претставуваат функционална експанзија
на неговата лонгитудинална поставеност. Ако на објектот се гледа како на
една долга, континуирана експо-лента, почетната, средишната и крајната
точка на таа лента се трите погоре наведени целини. Почетокот е означен со
инфо-деск, место каде посетителите би добиле евентуални инструкции за
целокупната содржина на објектот и правци за нивно движење. Пултот за
брошури и пропаганден материјал би било местото каде посетителите би
добиле првични и основни информации за се она што претставува експонат
12. на овој саем, машини за рециклирање на најразлични материјали, процесот
и начинот на рециклирање кои тие го извршуваат, како и информации за
нивната година на производство и земја на потекло, производител и сл. Во
приземјето има и кафе – бар, од отворен тип, во смисла можат да го
користат и посетители кои не се дојдени со цел посета на саемот за
рециклирање. Првиот кат од оваа точка на експанзија е со едукативно –
забавен карактер. Со оглед на тоа дека тука е сместена медијатеката
претставена преку две училници / работилници (мултифункционални
простории), библиотека со широк репертоар на книги и читална со околу 70
читачки места, современ компјутерски (web) центар, простор за читање
весници, списанија, магазини и сл., како и простор за седење и одмарање.
Вториот кат има и едукативен и комерцијален карактер – тука се
амфитеатарот за 203 посетители, како и флексибилна конференциска сала за
140 посетители која лесно може да се трансформира во две конференциски
сали од по 70 посетители. Ова се простории каде би имало презентации и
предавања од најразличен карактер, и како содржина, освен за едукација, би
претставувала комерцијален простор кој би ја одржувал функционалната
константност на објектот. Во продолжение, следува експо – каналот, коридор
со павилјонски карактеристики, во кој како експонати се поставени машини
и најразлична апаратура за рециклирање, од производители ширум целиот
свет, како и инфо – панели, видео-бимови и друга електронска опрема која
служи за аудио и видео презентација на машините, нивното
функционирање, процесот на рециклирање и сл. Долж коридорот, од
надворешната страна, поставена е рампа, чија функција е индиректно
набљудување на саемските експонати, како и пристап до историскиот мемо
– центар на рециклирање, кој ја има главната улога во наредната точка на
програмска експанзија на објектот. Освен преку рампата, пристап има и од
приземје, каде освен инфо – панели за негова најава, постојат и простори за
одмор и седење. Мемо – центарот го зафаќа првиот кат во целост и преку
флексибилна поставка на експонати и електронска аудио-видео опрема,
визуелно и виртуелно се следи хронолошкиот тек на процесот на
рециклирање, почнувајќи од 3000 год. п.н.е, кога за прв пат е забележан
обид за рециклирање на материјали (во Кносос, главен град на Крит), па се
до денешно време, кога постојат најразлични машини и апаратура за
рециклирање, за обработка на најразлични видови на материјали, како на
пример бетонски блокови, агрегати, т.н. зелен отпад (отпад од природно
потекло), текстил, метал, стакло, пластика, хартија, и др. На вториот кат има
радио станица, уште една комерцијална содржина за одржливост.
Движењето низ објектот продолжува без прекин, без оглед на тоа дали
посетителите на саемот решиле да го посетат мемо – центарот, или
13. продолжиле со набљудување на саемските експонати, а тоа е отсликато
преку фактот што не постои дисконтинуитет во движењето во приземјето,
ниту пак во хронологијатана процесот на рециклирање. Уште еден таков ист
експо – канал, со адекватна и соодветна содржина во поглед на претходниот,
е продолжението на претходно наведената непрекинатост, и истиот тој
завршува во последната од трите горенаведени целини. Овде, во приземјето,
освен влезно – излезниот хол од саемскиот простор, постои експозитура на
банка, чии услуги освен посетителите на експо – центарот, би ги користел
секој друг кој би имал потреба од нив. На првиот кат се сместени
канцеларии за постојано и привремено користење, простории кои би се
откупувале и изнајмувале за најразлични потреби на правни лица, фирми и
компании. Канцеларии од ваков вид, со океански тип на просторно
решение, постојат и на вториот кат, каде, освен тие, позиционирани се и
канцелариските простории на административно – управниот кадар на експо

простор за одмор и седење, чајна кујна, сала за состаноци и канцеларии за
извршниот и техничкиот директор. Со оглед на целокупната содржина, оваа
целина има комерцијален, административно-деловен карактер.
Широкоаголното перцепирање на објектот во целост ни дозволува да
извлечеме заклучок дека станува збор за идејна маркантна градба која би го
привлекувала вниманието од различни точки на гледање, не само на оние
кои би биле официјални нејзини посетители. Со оглед на впечатливото
партерно уредување на локацијата на која е позициониран објектот и
неговата лонгитудиналност и “мистериозната” зелена рефлектирачка и

претставувал магнет за вниманието и задоволување на љубопитноста на

концепт би се додале сите елементи на изненадување – дел од општото
сценарио на целосната негова сторија, може да се каже дека овој експо –
центар за рециклирање директно влијае на природата, природата има
директно влијание на него, поради што практично претставува креација на
природата.
