This document summarizes a presentation given by Matt Edwards at MinneWebCon 2015 about including developers in the design process. Some key points from the presentation include encouraging designers to avoid arrogance and see development as a type of design. Edwards advocates sharing design decisions with developers and treating them as the designers they are. He acknowledges that every organization is different but encourages finding ways to remove bottlenecks and allow developers to contribute their expertise to improve efficiency. The overall message is that user experience does not begin and end with designers alone.

Jan Koum was born in Ukraine and immigrated to the US as a teenager after living in poverty. He taught himself computer skills and co-founded WhatsApp with Brian Acton, creating a simple messaging app that grew rapidly in users. Facebook acquired WhatsApp for $19 billion in 2014, making Koum a billionaire and member of Facebook's board of directors. WhatsApp now has over 450 million active users worldwide.
The document discusses the benefits of exercise for mental health. Regular physical activity can help reduce anxiety and depression and improve mood and cognitive function. Exercise causes chemical changes in the brain that may help protect against mental illness and improve symptoms for those who already suffer from conditions like anxiety and depression.
Murali Krishnan Durairaj has 14 years of experience as a civil engineer in Oman and India. He currently works as a Project Engineer for Galfar Engineering & Contracting S.A.O.G in Oman, where he is responsible for structural reinforcement executions and coordinating with subcontractors. Previously he has managed projects such as construction of a sewage treatment plant and cardiac center. He is motivated, disciplined, and has strong communication and leadership skills.
This document describes a clinical study examining the development of long-term visual knowledge in three children with visual agnosia due to early brain lesions. All three children exhibited apperceptive visual agnosia and impaired visual memory. Their visual recognition deficits and memory impairments were assessed initially and over time. The study found that processing degraded visual perceptions from birth can result in impoverished long-term memories, though memory impairment may improve longitudinally and be modulated by object properties. The interaction between perception and memory during development influences the construction of visual representations.

We all know the concept of the elevator pitch, where you pitch your idea between two floors in an elevator.
Visual + words are even more powerful together and that is the essence of this talk given at CIID Open Lecture.
It is all about how you explain your ideas better , how to make sure people remember them and how to gain shared knowledge faster and more efficient.
...And that is by drawing simple pictures to visualise your ideas.

World Usability Day 2014: Engagement (Master Deck)NYCUXPA
300 UX professionals Bloomberg, AppNexus, the NYC UXPA and the IxDA of New York City for World Usability Day 2014 on Thursday, November 13th. Our all-star team of UX rock stars shared their perspectives on engagement models in user experience.
This was presented at the Penn State Web 2012 Conference.
With the flood of consumers using various media devices, web designers & developers now have to try and create products that will retain the same aesthetic look & feel on multiple platforms. With the screen real-estate ranging from a 27″ desktop monitor, 13″ laptop monitor set at a 800×600 video resolution, tablet devices like the iPad, and a plethora of mobile phones with a wide variety of sizes. However, by taking advantage of some of the new syntax, creatives can create a dynamic website that can alter a pages’ visual layout while still maintaining control of the overall user experience. This presentation will help explain the importance of why it is necessary to plan ahead to build an adaptive website versus just 'getting it done'
As designers and agency owners we constantly manage the chaos of mastering a craft, being diverse, all the while trying to differentiate ourselves and adapting our processes and deliverables in an industry that changes at lightening speeds. As if the web wasn’t difficult enough, the advent of mobile product design and service design has created an entirely new industry and career paths, completely disrupting everything we knew about engagements, processes, deliverables, and expectations of design teams and agencies.
Face it, the industry is constantly changing and so should we. Let’s learn to embrace change and use it to intentionally position ourselves for constant reinvention and how to fashion the skills and environments necessary for creating meaningful products in the modern age and beyond.
Presented at Owner Summit 2015, Austin Texas
Technology has helped humanity improve our skills and extend our potential. As technology continues to evolve, so has a new path for human enhancement. We are now hacking our bodies. Google Glass and other forms of wearable technologies are just the first generation of consumer products that extend the self, while the development of systems like powered exoskeletons and bionic limbs and eyes are re-defining the future of medicine and human ability.
This talk will explore this future of wearable devices through the lens of User Experience design. As UX designers, how can we approach these new technologies that will require a wider cross-channel strategy for long-term interactions? Connecting the dots of a complex multi-touchpoint experience will require understanding of the new design paradigms of a wearable-first user experience. How can we use design to orchestrate this new level of integration between humans and technology to create the best experiences?
