C.S. Lewis was raised Christian but became an atheist after his mother died, until he was convinced of Christianity's truth in 1929. He then focused his writing on his faith. The Chronicles of Narnia include Christian symbolism, like Aslan representing Jesus. In the first two books, Aslan mirrors God's creation and Jesus' sacrifice for humanity. Lewis acknowledged this symbolism to a fan. While the symbolism is apparent, readers do not need to understand it to enjoy the exciting adventures.
