This document is the beginning of a novel titled "It's In the Music". It introduces the main character, Nick Stone, and his flight instructor Jack Noble. Nick is flying Jack's plane as practice when they receive a call from Jack's job as a detective about a disturbing murder. They fly to the crime scene, where they find a young woman brutally tortured and killed in a way resembling a Hieronymus Bosch painting. By examining small details, Nick and Jack deduce that the killer was impatient and angry, and may seek further violent acts to satisfy their rage.
